About me

About me

I was born in Louny and have spent most of my life in Tábor — so far, anyway. These days I live and work in Prague.

After studying at SPŠ a VOŠ Písek, a technical school, I graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. I’d been doing custom programming as early as high school, and I went at it in earnest toward the end of university — by then self-employed, with a trade license.

About two years after finishing my studies, I joined Abra Software a.s. as a programmer of custom applications and stayed for just under five years. It was the kind of place where you learn how enterprise systems work from the inside — including why some things look the way they do.

After leaving Abra, I started working for TCCM a.s., Kiboon Electronics a.s., and, above all, Smarty CZ a.s., which I still work with today.

How I work

I’m not an agency or a team. I’m one person, and I stand behind my work — which comes with upsides and limits, and it’s fair to mention both.

  • Upside: you talk directly to the person who writes it. No project manager between you and the code, nothing lost in translation.
  • Upside: longevity. I’ve worked with some clients for more than a decade, so I know where their systems hide the skeletons.
  • Limit: there’s only one of me. I’d rather turn down a big project with a “within a month” deadline than do it halfway.

Away from the screen

When I’m not writing code for clients, I’m writing it for myself. It usually ends up as a small game in Unity, or a tool that solves one specific problem and that nobody else will ever use. I consider both time well spent.

How I got here

  1. since 2017
    Developer · Smarty CZ a.s.

My longest-running collaboration. Internal and customer systems — from individual tools to things the company runs every day.

    Developer · TCCM a.s.

Custom applications tied into operational systems.

  3. 2012–2017

  4. 2007–2012

It started back in high school, and in earnest at the end of university. Desktop, web, mobile — whatever the client needs.

  6. until joining Abra
Education · Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Electrical Engineering · SPŠ a VOŠ Písek

Electrical engineering and computer science. But I started programming before I started studying it.
